You all must be pondering over why I chose to write on this topic!!! I come from a country where people still believe in superstitions.
Inspite of proven facts based on reality. India has been through immense development in various fields, different states but there are still few parts of India which have to undergo a change in everything including their mentality and their views on issues concerning life.
The down trodden and the under developed states are unable to go through any development because of their thought process. They still believe that if a widow, a single Brahman or a man carrying oil or milk or a cat crosses your path it brings in bad luck!! I mean how does no.13 prove to be unlucky to people? 1+3=4 and according to numerology the no.4 has quite a lot of significant attributes.
The biggest issue that has ruined lives of many is "UNTOUCHABILITY". Just because a person is a Dalit doesnt mean that you dont allow him to enter in the premises of a temple...isnt he human???
Ok what you read ahead would just make you laugh....This is the latest news---"Indian man marries female dog to redeem himself of stoning two dogs to death. When he killed those two dogs about 15 years ago, he suffered some form of paralysis and lost hearing in one ear. An astrologer told him that he was cursed for his bad deed and marrying a dog was the only remedy"When i read this news it was not only hilarious for me but also quite shocking!!! If not educated I still believe that people do have a certain amount of common sense...if not literacy, common sense does help. Superstitious Beliefs are followed on the basis of religion.
Im an Agonostic but if this is what people do in the name of religion then I might as well prefer being an atheist!!!
Though the literacy rate has only risen post-independence the story of the villages is unmentionable. The villages, instead of progressing being independent have only lagged behind caught in the shackles of superstitions. The villagers fall prey to baseless superstitions!!
Such incidents are a shame to our country and prove to be a hindrance in the development!!!
